Westward Bound

My nervous collie leapt the fence
he really didn’t have much sense,
especially after a postman ran ‘im down.
Postie on electric bike; she let out
a sudden shriek. Cement truck braked
that had been westward bound.
My mother used to cough a lot.
We think we’re free but we get caught
or knocked down by a postie on a bike.
Bicycles can break your bones.
Hospital bed; you’re all alone.
Across the pane there’s a plane
that’s westward bound.
The baboons have a hairy tale
about a dog inside a whale.
Postie arrives with the water bill.
Dog howls its case from deep within.
Delivering bills is not a sin
but mail gets wet unless it’s
westward bound.
The ocean waves then there’s naught.
I used to pray to clouds a lot
until a tick appeared upon my bum.
Stars dive below; stars die above;
postie gave me such a shove – I stum-
bled then found I was eastward bound.
