Sabino de la Plaza

Sabino de la Plaza was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1977, and has been living in Bendigo, Australia since 2015. He has worked in community services and as a teacher, unionist, political activist and humans rights advocate. His piece, “My Foreign Speech” was shortlisted in Overland’s 2019 Fair Australia Awards. He asks readers to be mindful English is his second language, although his words are raw, they are from the heart and life’s experiences. As well as being a poet, a blogger and amateur photographer, he says being a ‘nerd’ is one of his favourite hobbies.
